Chavez earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Business Administration from Texas A&M University–Kingsville before completing a Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance at the same institution. He further enhanced his professional credentials by becoming a National Certified Counselor and obtaining specialized training as a Solution-Focused Therapist.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), Chavez possesses a broad range of expertise spanning mental health counseling, substance use treatment, crisis intervention, and clinical supervision.
